Room 3, named "The Recovery Room" due to the fact that there is excellent restorative energy in the air... many people who enter feel it when they walk in and leave completely rejuvenated. We wanted to accentuate this feeling with a light, soft french aesthetic for the design of this room. {before}

Wanting the details of the room to feel somewhat illustrative, we incorporated the idea of hand-painted Tromp L'oeil walls. The window treatments were deliberately stenciled in a 'drippy' style with watered down Annie Sloan Chalk Paint on raw silk, giving the ornate pattern a faded grandeur feel. Both the vintage dresser and the bedside table were salvaged by upcycling them with chalk paint using a painterly technique. We added beautiful Mercury Glass knobs to the dresser as a finishing touch. The floor was revived with a wash-technique in a soft lavender grey, named Paloma. Although there are many loose/painted elements in the space, it was important to keep the room's overall elegance. To do this we featured beautiful hanging Oversized Painted Canvas French Scroll Artwork, a Glass Stacked Ball Lamp, and a lovely Velvet Reading Chair in the corner of the room. As the magnificent centerpiece of the room, a Brass Bed Crown with Swiss Dot Curtains was hung over the bed. It reminds me of the Aristocats movie, a childhood fave, paired with a French Chalet somewhere in the Swiss mountains. It's airy and femme, luxe and approachable all at once. If you want to recreate this design style at home, the best way to do so is to layer billowy fabrics and allow for an "undone" wabi sabi style. The fact that the silk curtains are drippy make them feel less precious and more usable. The floor having a washed grey look feels like an old French Chateau. The imperfection of the painted lines creates a casual ambiance that is comforting and inviting. We design with intention and are happy to share our concepts! {after}
