The Rainbow Stairs

{the journey}

Here's our visual depiction of the transformation:

{concept}

As you may have previously read, The Gables was designed to give a moment of open space, in monochromatically light colors. We thought it would be fun to accentuate the contrast by adding the complete opposite just before - a set of RAINBOW stairs! It's now a fun surprise that everyone that comes to the house loves to see.

{before}

{process}

To paint the colors we mixed an assortment of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint colors with Pure White, to achieve a more pastel color palette. We laquered the rises of the stairs to maintain color-durability, and gave the rest of the staircase another coat of white paint.

Fun Fact: The Second Step as you go up used to be a faux step (when we were renovating we found an old newspaper). It's painted over now, so please don't go trying to open it... but, the more yah know!

{after}

The gorgeous image Krisztina Crane captured:

Follow along next week to see the next transformation at our inn in Woodstock! We hope you enjoy seeing the Before and After pics as much as we do. Come visit us at Twin Gables of Woodstock in the Catskills to experience the vibe yourself.

Thank you for reading,

Azie
