Room 6 was designed by my eldest son Hunter, who coincidentally shares a name with a mountain in the Hudson Valley! For this reason it was only fitting to name the space "Hunter Mountain", perfectly suiting its 'double meaning'. Inspired by a clean, bold, monochromatic style, this room is filled with modern black & white decor, complimented by tones of green. Hunter has an edgy style of his own: wears almost exclusively black with splashes of camp or olive green (the opposite of his bright color loving little brother) so his focus was to make the space feel moody and cool. {before}

Prior to altering the space, this room stayed true to a monochromatic scheme with blue walls and flooring! There were unique panels on the ceiling of this room, so we thought of a unique idea to put the space to use. Some years ago I did a custom where I made a client's ceiling look like malachite (see blog post here), and we thought it was about time to bring it back! As the statement piece of the room, the Malachite Ceiling was hand-painted with chalk paint, using bits of torn cardboard to make the stone-like rippled effect. The floor was painted in Athenian Black and sealed with lacquer. Most of the furniture in the room was replaced, with the exception of the vintage dresser, which was repainted to feature an artistic rendering of a mountainscape. {after}
