Keeping it Simple

I love layering. I love a color wash and a tinted wax. I love sanding and buffing and dry brushing to give detail and dimension to my work. I love playing with products like Craqueleuer and Decoupage. However, I also love just painting and waxing and being done with something.

Sometimes it’s nice to keep the finish simple. Soft and velvety with a coat of paint and a hand wax with a light wiping, no buffing. When doing so you have more creative freedom to play with other elements…like the textile or color for example.

Here’s my latest reinvented vintage lovely here, done in this simple style so as to not compete with the GORGEOUS fabric I love so very much:
